Eradicating hardcore poverty does not equate to the total elimination of poverty in a country, said Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli, adding that it is relative and the figures fluctuate from year to year.
Increasing income as well as improving the standard of living and access to essential services for the urban and rural poor are two strategies that will be undertaken by the government to address poverty.
Some of the nation's most pressing issues, including growing poverty and inequality in society, can be tackled by way of new approaches and solutions, said Sultan Nazrin Shah.
The federal and state government have allocated a total of RM254.3 million to implement programmes aimed at eradicating the hardcore poor in Johor this year.
