The sustainability of the media industry, empowering the digital economy and resolving issues of internet infrastructure and service quality in remote areas will be among the focus of the Communications and Digital Ministry (KKD) next year.
Malaysian media organisations can take the lead with regard to advertising revenue sharing with global social media platforms, and the Communications and Digital Ministry stands ready to assist, said minister Fahmi Fadzil.
The Communications and Digital Ministry is examining the need to license large platform providers such as Google, Meta and TikTok that generate revenue through content from local media organisations.
