Although Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal has good intentions with his Madani white rice proposal, there needs to be better coordination and engagement with industry players and other stakeholders prior to any announcements, said Communication Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
The government has yet to reach a decision on the proposal to establish a single grade of white rice in the country, which will be named Malaysia Madani white rice.
The proposal to introduce the Malaysia Madani White Rice as the sole category of local rice is illogical if issues surrounding pricing controls for rice and padi are not resolved, the chairman of Muda Agricultural Development Authority Datuk Ismail Salleh said.
