Mining firm Lynas is among major Australian companies showing interest in investing a total of RM24.5 billion in Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said in Melbourne today.
There have been discrepancies between statements issued by Nuklear Malaysia and the government on Lynas Malaysia’s thorium extraction plans, said three DAP lawmakers today.
Several lawmakers have questioned the Science, Technology, and Innovation Ministry over its decision to extend the operating licence of Lynas Malaysia’s rare earth processing plant.
Science, Technology, and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang said this came after amendments made on its licensing terms, including the permission to import raw materials containing naturally radioactive materials.
