Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi paid a visit to the Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex in Johor Bahru this evening in response to widespread reports of extensive traffic jams at the two border crossings to Singapore.
The federal government will hold a meeting with the Johor state government to streamline several policies to ensure that the creation of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone will be expedited, said Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.
The Johor government has proposed that the federal government consider implementing a QR code system, similar to Singapore, at the customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) complex in the state.
Malaysia will facilitate the sale of land needed by Singapore to redevelop the Woodlands Checkpoint, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today in stressing commitment to easing traffic congestion at both countries’ entry points.
