China will draw on its experience in Covid-19 prevention and control, as well as make proactive preparations for future pandemics, such as "Disease X," said the country’s chief of the National Disease Control and Prevention Administration, Wang Hesheng.
World Health Organisation director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has warned the global community to prepare to fight “Disease X”, the next potential pandemic, amid a lack of preparation at present.
The Health Ministry, through its Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre, is ready to handle any possible outbreak or pandemic in the near future, said Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa.
Disease X is expected to be as infectious as measles and possibly as deadly as Ebola, even though it has not yet been discovered, said the health director-general.
