Boeing has ousted the leader of the 737 Max programme at its Renton plant and reshuffled its leadership team at the Commercial Airplanes division, effective immediately, reported tca/dpa.
Boeing accepts responsibility for the incident in which a door plug blew out of a 737 Max 9 mid-flight last month, says its chief executive officer, Dave Calhoun.
Boeing mechanics, and not supplier Spirit AeroSystems, had reinstalled the door plug that blew off an Alaska Airlines flight “improperly”, various Alaskan media have reported, citing an anonymous insider who revealed the matter on an aviation blog.
More airlines are returning their grounded Boeing 737 MAX 9 planes to the air following the Federal Aviation Administration’s release of a list of actions to deal with door plugs on the model.
