Israel today forced those present in Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, including patients, displaced persons and medical staff, to evacuate through a single exit.
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has stopped short of passing a Russia-backed resolution for a ceasefire in Gaza, amid a second raid on the Strip’s largest medical complex – Al-Shifa Hospital – in 24 hours.
Up to 650 patients are in the health facility – including newborns and the critically injured – 200 to 500 health workers, as well as 1,500 internally displaced people who have been taking shelter since the war started more than a month ago.
The bombardment of Gaza continues as hospitals have been targeted over the past 24 hours, including snipers attacking patients inside the Al-Shifa Hospital.
