NILAI — National women’s track cyclist Nur Aisyah Mohamad Zubir made an impressive debut in the elite point race event, securing a silver medal at the 2025 Asian Track Cycling Championships (ATC) at the National Velodrome today.

In the gruelling 100-lap race, Nur Aisyah displayed strong endurance to accumulate 20 points, finishing second—just one point ahead of Uzbekistan’s Nafosat Kozieva (19 points). Japan’s Maho Kakita dominated the event with 44 points to claim gold.

This marks the Terengganu-born rider’s second silver medal at ATC 2025, following her podium finish in the scratch race yesterday.

“Alhamdulillah, I’m grateful to have won silver in my first attempt at this event. I honestly didn’t expect to make the podium, as the race is very challenging with 100 laps and acceleration every 10 laps.

“It really tested my physical and mental endurance. With 40 laps remaining, I focused on maintaining my position after seeing that the third-place rider was just one point behind me,” she told reporters after the race.

Nur Aisyah will now turn her attention to the women’s madison event, where she will compete alongside Nyo Ci Hui tomorrow.

Meanwhile, in the para track cycling competition, Nur Suraiya Muhammad Zamri and her helmsman Farina Shawati Mohd Adnan clinched gold in the women’s tandem sprint (B) event.
