Kelantan Football Association urged to hold office bearer re-election after FAM suspension

This follows claims of July 2024 AGM not being compliant with FAM guidelines

KOTA BHARU – The Kelantan Football Association (KAFA) has been urged to hold a re-election of committee members following the suspension by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

The push was made by two District Football Associations (PBJ), namely PBJ Jeli (Baru) and PBJ Pasir Puteh.

PBJ Pasir Puteh secretary, Arif Hassan, said the re-election and KAFA General Meeting should be held immediately, as the Annual General Meeting held in July last year did not comply with the guidelines set by FAM.

“We (PBJ Pasir Puteh and PBJ Jeli) were not called to attend the general meeting, when our attendance should have been mandatory. As a result, KAFA is now suspended by FAM.

“KAFA needs to immediately hold a general meeting because all activities involving the FAM and KAFA programmes cannot be carried out as long as this suspension is in effect,” he said at a press conference here today.

On December 19 last year, KAFA’s membership as a FAM Affiliate was suspended immediately following complaints regarding the procedures for conducting the 65th KAFA Annual Congress and the election of the Executive Committee for the 2024-2028 session.

Arif said the re-election should be held by April.

“I believe that if the general meeting goes well, FAM will approve KAFA’s application to continue its activities.

“However, if it is too slow, all parties, including PBJ in all districts, will lose out,” he said. – January 28, 2025
