The decision was made following an issue that was raised recently at the council meeting

KUALA LUMPUR – The Kuala Lumpur Hockey Association (KLHA) has nullified the nominations of all candidates from the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Sports Education Association (HockAcademy), led by Datuk Seri Megat Shahriman Zaharudin.

The decision was made following an issue that was raised recently at the council meeting. Apparently, several of the nomination forms from the Megat coalition had forged signatures.

At the same time, KLHA sought legal advice from lawyer Datuk Michael Wong, who urged the association to file a police report against HockAcademy and suspend the academy until further notice.

“It doesn’t make sense for them to have made such mistakes. Issues like this are damaging to the sport. As a result, we made a unanimous decision to cancel the nominations and suspend HockAcademy,” Vikneswaran said during a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium today.

A total of three signatures out of nine were allegedly forged by Megat.

Meanwhile, Vikneswaran said that a formal letter would be sent to the Sports Commissioner’s Office regarding this matter to ensure the AGM proceeds without any disruptions.

“The Sports Commissioner’s Office needs to be aware of the process, and there should be a compliance check and balance in this matter. We have also informed the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) about this issue.

“In sports, we should not tolerate such behaviour. Certain individuals should not try to be a ‘jack of all trades, master of none,’ as it is not beneficial for the growth of the sport.

“The person behind this should stop causing confusion. It is disheartening to see such incidents happening when we are working towards the betterment of the sport,” Vikneswaran added.

KLHA’s AGM is scheduled to take place this Saturday – January 23, 2025
