KUALA LUMPUR — The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) have secured a major boost as they step into 2025, welcoming Allianz Malaysia Berhad as their official financial services partner.

This partnership ushers in a new era for Malaysian badminton, with Allianz providing vital support for players and coaches aiming for international success.

The collaboration promises enhanced protection for BAM’s athletes—both senior and junior—covering their international competition travels and ensuring they can focus entirely on their performance without concerns over their well-being.

Beyond this, Allianz will also serve as the title sponsor for the upcoming Allianz Malaysia Super 100 tournament, set to take place at the Juara Stadium in October 2025.

This partnership highlights Allianz’s growing role in promoting badminton excellence in Malaysia.

BAM acting president Datuk V. Subramaniam expressed excitement about the collaboration.

“Allianz is a leader in insurance, not just in Malaysia but globally, with strong involvement in world-class sporting events like the Olympics.

“Their active participation in Malaysian sports makes this partnership particularly meaningful, and we’re honored to have them join us to elevate Malaysian badminton,” he said.

He also emphasised how crucial corporate support is for BAM’s growth.

“Support from corporate leaders like Allianz is essential and will significantly contribute to the success of our programmes. This partnership will benefit BAM and provide added motivation and encouragement to the players,” Subramaniam added.

Allianz’s commitment to the sport is not new, as it has been supporting junior badminton through the Allianz Junior Badminton Championship (AJBC) since 2022.

The AJBC has seen great success, with over 3,000 young players participating in qualifying rounds across Malaysia last year.

Sean Wang, CEO of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, expressed the company’s continued commitment to supporting sports both globally and locally.

“We’ve partnered with the National Sports Council on their Para athletes programme, and we’re thrilled to expand our support for Malaysian badminton at the national level through this collaboration with BAM.

“We’re also proud to sponsor the Allianz Malaysia Super 100 event and look forward to further elevating the sport,” he said.

Allianz’s role doesn’t stop there. They will continue supporting young talent through the AJBC, with details of the upcoming 2025 championship to be announced soon.

This partnership is set to bring new opportunities and momentum to BAM’s programmes, propelling Malaysian badminton forward in the international arena. — January 4, 2025
