KUALA LUMPUR — The National Press Club Malaysia (NPC) Golf 2024 unfolded in spectacular fashion at the prestigious Tropicana Golf and Country Resort, solidifying its reputation as one of the standout events on Malaysia’s media and corporate calendar.
The tournament was graced by the royal presence of His Royal Highness Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, adding a touch of grandeur to the occasion.
Organised in collaboration with ShekhinahPR and supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), the event attracted 102 participants from across the nation. It celebrated camaraderie, competitive spirit, and a shared passion for golf.
The stakes were raised with an array of coveted prizes, including a Ducati Scrambler Icon, a Mazda CX-5, and a Maxus Mifa 9, offered for hole-in-one feats. Although these exclusive prizes remained unclaimed, the tournament concluded on a high note with other exciting awards.
The grand lucky draw prize, a Power Plate Rev Bike by UFL, was won by Paul Kam. In the competitive categories, Rastam Ariffin Ahmad Khairuddin claimed the Men’s title with an impressive 41 points, while Ruth Cabalero triumphed in the Women’s category with 37 points.
Datuk Ahirudin Attan, president of NPC Malaysia, expressed his gratitude for the strong support the event received.
“It has been 10 years since we last organised a golf tournament, and I’m thrilled to see it return with such success. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from our sponsors, partners, and participants who came together to make this event memorable,” he said.
The tournament’s success was made possible by the generous contributions of its sponsors, including Fraser & Neave Holdings Berhad, Datuk Nelson Fernandez, Universal Fitness & Leisure Berhad Sdn Bhd, CitaGlobal, Weststar Maxus, Milo Malaysia, Mazda (Bermaz Auto), FN Initiative, Ducati Malaysia, Carro Sdn Bhd, Malay Mail, MSTGolf, Kami Shampoo, Titoni, Lavand, Car & Co, Dorsett, Cameron Valley, Datuk James Selvaraj, AdamPrimus Chartered Accountants, Tupperware, Allianz, and Camotional Cooling x AX Film.
Their support reflected a shared commitment to fostering collaboration within Malaysia’s media and corporate communities.
During the luncheon, Ahirudin emphasised the importance of greater participation from the media in NPC activities.
“Not many young journalists are aware of the NPC or are even members. Apart from managing a welfare fund for media professionals, we also host a variety of events.
“I hope the revival of the NPC Golf tournament will open the door for closer collaboration between members of the media and corporate groups in the future. I invite all of you to join the NPC,” he added.
The NPC Malaysia Golf 2024 continues to embody the National Press Club’s mission of strengthening ties among media professionals and their partners while celebrating excellence, sportsmanship, and camaraderie.
