KUALA LUMPUR – With Sri Pahang FC back on track financially, the club’s management has begun to settle the salary arrears owed to players and coaches.
Sources within the football fraternity said senior players, including Ezequiel Agüero and Stefano Brundo, will be offered new contracts worth significantly more to stay with the Elephants for the next two seasons.
It has been reported that, aside from Sri Pahang, Super League clubs such as Perak FC, Sabah FC, Kedah FC, and Kuala Lumpur City FC have been struggling with salary arrears since the league campaign began.
At the same time, several Sri Pahang players have taken to social media to criticise their employers.
“Everyone, including the coaches, has received their payments on time, and thanks to this, the players are now more committed than before. They can be seen training hard for their upcoming fixtures, and the atmosphere in the dressing room has been very positive.
“There could also be a possible takeover of the club, and more investments may be made in the years to come. There are talks of new corporate sponsorships and upgrading the club’s facilities, which will help the club grow and improve over time.
“Some of the players who have been with the club for more than two years will be offered new contracts with better benefits. They are not leaving the club, contrary to recent speculation.
“The management has also promised to clear all pending salary arrears by the end of this year and has assured that issues like this will not arise from next season onwards,” the source told Scoop.
Sri Pahang is owned by Tengku Muda Pahang, Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah.
