KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia’s national para-athletes have received a significant boost as Allianz Malaysia Berhad announced a four-year sponsorship extension coinciding with the ongoing Paris Paralympics, which runs from August 28 to September 8.
The National Sports Council (NSC) and Allianz Malaysia have officially renewed their partnership to support the training programmes of Malaysia’s para-athletes from 2025 to 2028.
This renewed agreement, which began in 2022, reaffirms Allianz as a strategic partner and principal sponsor for Malaysia’s para-athlete programmes.
The sponsorship will provide critical funding for major events, including the 2025 and 2027 Asean Para Games, the 2026 Asian Para Games, and the 2028 Paralympic Games, ensuring comprehensive support for athletes as they prepare for these high-level competitions.
“The NSC is delighted with the extension of this sponsorship contract, as it demonstrates the strong partnership between both parties.
“This sponsorship will help cover the costs of training and preparing our para-athletes for several upcoming major international sporting events.
“On behalf of NSC and our national para-athletes, we are very grateful to the management and staff of Allianz Malaysia Berhad,” said NSC director-general Abdul Rashid Yaakub in a statement today.
The announcement comes at a crucial time, as the Malaysian Para Contingent competes in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.
The renewed sponsorship reflects Allianz Malaysia’s confidence in the country’s para-athletes and their potential for success on the world stage.
“Allianz Malaysia is very pleased with the announcement of the sponsorship extension with NSC.
“Malaysia’s para-athletes have shown extraordinary capabilities, and we are confident they will proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games,” said Allianz Malaysia CEO, Sean Wang.
“We believe this sponsorship extension will further inspire all our para-athletes in their upcoming competitions. Allianz will continue to support you, and we are also providing travel insurance coverage for the entire Malaysian Para Contingent.”
The strategic partnership agreement also positions Allianz Malaysia as the main sponsor for the para-sports competition circuit and allows the company to continue its ‘Allianz MoveForward’ initiative.
This programme offers assistance and support to athletes who are exploring new career paths after retiring from national sports.
The continued collaboration between NSC and Allianz Malaysia signifies a robust commitment to enhancing the development and welfare of Malaysia’s para-athletes, ensuring they have the resources and support needed to excel on the international stage. – August 29, 2024
