KUALA LUMPUR – The controversy that has left a dent on the Perak Hockey Association (PHA) over the past few months has finally been resolved, with its annual general meeting documents being validated by the Sports Commissioner’s Office.

Speaking to Scoop, PHA president Datuk Sayuti Samat said that internal conflicts within the association have also been settled, with actions taken against those who stirred unnecessary controversies.

“Everything is going well in our association, and we have addressed the issues with those who tried to divide us.

“From my management’s side, we have also submitted all the necessary documents to the Sports Commissioner’s Office, and Commissioner Suhardi Alias was impressed, affirming that all the documents from the annual general meeting were valid.

“Therefore, we at PHA can proudly declare that the case is closed, and we will be holding our next presidential elections in the coming months,” said Sayuti when contacted.

Previously, Scoop reported that PHA vice-president Khairul Aufa Mohamed Yusof revealed that seven out of 11 district members had expressed their frustration and called for the association’s annual general meeting to be reconvened due to allegations of an illegitimate meeting.

The seven district members include Kinta Hockey Association, Hilir Perak Hockey Association, Bagan Datuk Hockey Association, Hulu Perak Hockey Association, Kampar Hockey Association, Manjung Hockey Association and Mualim Hockey Association.

PHA had also received several notices from the Sports Commissioner’s Office to resolve its internal disputes to avoid the possibility of being deregistered.

Under the leadership of president Sayuti, PHA clinched the Tun Abdul Razak Cup three times consecutively in 2020, 2021, and 2022.

The state’s men’s hockey squad also ended a decade-long wait for the Sukma gold, defeating defending champions Pahang 3-2 in a nail-biting penalty shootout in the final, held at the Sarawak State Hockey Stadium on August 24-27, 2024. – August 27, 2024
