KL City FC patron Fahmi Fadzil aims for KLFA top post

Comms minister announces this and introduces his team on TikTok, with KL United Sdn Bhd director Syed Yazid Syed Omar as deputy candidate

KUALA LUMPUR – Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has announced his intention to run for president of the Kuala Lumpur Football Association (KLFA), Bernama reported. 

Fahmi, who currently serves as the patron of KL City FC – a role he took on in June 2023 – made the announcement on TikTok, introducing his team for the upcoming KLFA election. 

His team includes KL United Sdn Bhd director Syed Yazid Syed Omar as the candidate for KLFA deputy president. 

He also revealed their nominations for the vice-president positions, which include the prime minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and the deputy prime minister’s political secretary Datuk Mohd Razlan Rafii. 

“Our aim is to elevate the affiliated clubs and ensure KLFA is managed better and more sustainably so that football in Kuala Lumpur can progress further,” he said. 

Datuk Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid has been serving as the acting KLFA president since former Federal Territories minister Khalid Abdul Samad resigned last March. 

The new KLFA committee will be elected at its congress on September 7. – August 23, 2024
