Perak FC urge former interim CEO Bobbie Farid Shamsuddin to reconsider resignation

Hasty mid-season exit not ideal, says club chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Zabidi

KUALA LUMPUR – The top management of Perak FC is hopeful that former interim chief executive Bobbie Farid Shamsuddin will reconsider his decision to resign from the club.

Appointed in May 2022, Bobbie decided to step down from the role after facing intense pressure from supporters.

He announced his resignation on social media shortly after Perak FC’s 1-2 loss to Kuching City FC in a Super League match at the Perak Stadium, Ipoh, yesterday.

Speaking to Scoop, Perak FC chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Zabidi said that the club would hold an exco meeting on Friday to discuss the situation.

Azim also stated that Bobbie’s decision was hasty and that he did not consult anyone before making the announcement.

“Bobbie resigned because he felt he couldn’t elevate Perak FC to a higher level.

“In my opinion, he should have discussed it with us first. If we want to blame people, many could be blamed, but that’s not the priority right now.

“It’s normal for us to face criticism from supporters when we lose, but when we win, they say nothing. So, I believe he shouldn’t take the criticism too seriously.

“I will meet with him soon, and if possible, I want to persuade him to stay because leaving us in the middle of the season is not ideal,” said Azim.

At the same time, Azim acknowledged Perak FC’s underwhelming performance this season, with only two wins, leaving them in ninth place in the Super League.

He said that if the club’s finances permit, he would not hesitate to bring in another foreign striker to bolster The Bos Gaurus’ attacking line-up during the second transfer window in August.

Currently, Serbian striker Luka Milanovic is the main option for coach Yusri Che Lah at Perak FC, but he has yet to find the net this season.

“We know our weaknesses, and the most glaring one right now is that we need a great striker.

“We are looking into whether we can bring in a new foreign player during the next transfer window,” Azim added. – July 31, 2024
