PM rallies Malaysians to root for nation’s Olympians

With 26 athletes competing in 10 sports, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim posts on Facebook calling everyone to support Team MAS

KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called upon Malaysians to rally behind the national contingent as they gear up to compete in the upcoming Olympics.  

In a heartfelt statement, the prime minister emphasised the importance of national support in boosting the athletes’ morale and performance on the world stage. 

“The Malaysian contingent already departed for the Olympics and are now gearing up to compete.  

“We Malaysians should rally behind them and hope they make history with stellar performances and bring home the prizes,” he said on his social media clip. 

Anwar urged the nation to support and cheer for Team Malaysia, expressing his best wishes for their success.  

“Let’s all support and cheer for Team Malaysia. Wish them the best of luck and success,” he added. 

The Malaysian contingent comprise 26 athletes competing in 10 different sports, with 15 making their Olympic debut.  

The athletes are set to compete in badminton, cycling, weightlifting, diving, sailing, shooting, archery, golf, athletics, and swimming.  

The Olympics officially run from July 26 till August 11. – July 25, 2024
