SHAH ALAM – Selangor FC forward Faisal Halim is slated to undergo a skin transplant from overseas to address the severe fourth degree burns he sustained.

Selangor FC’s head of sports medicine, Dr Muhammad Hazwan Khair, revealed that the treatment, known as skin allograft, will be imported from Belgium, with an estimated cost of RM30,000.

Skin allograft involves surgically removing healthy skin from one part of the body and transplanting it to cover damaged areas.

Hazwan emphasised the importance of this procedure in expediting Faisal’s recovery, particularly in addressing his skin issues.

“Faisal’s main concern is his skin condition, while his muscle recovery will require rehabilitation treatment.

“According to the surgeon, another follow-up procedure is expected later this week,” said Hazwan.

This development comes after Crown Prince of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin, who is also Selangor FC chairman, pledged to cover all of Faisal’s medical expenses until his full recovery.

Faisal has shown signs of improvement today, being able to eat and engage in light exercise after his second surgery late yesterday afternoon.
