KUALA LUMPUR – Selangor FC striker Faisal Halim is undergoing his second surgery this evening, following the acid attack he suffered on Sunday.
Faisal is currently fighting for his life after being confirmed to have suffered fourth-degree burns on several parts of his body, when he was attacked by unknown assailants while out with his family at a shopping centre in Petaling Jaya.
Selangor FC’s technical committee chairman, Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar, explained that Faisal may have to undergo several more surgeries to treat the burns on his body.
He added that the acid used by the perpetrator is believed to be sulphuric acid.
“I just visited Faisal, Alhamdulillah. He is conscious but he is scheduled to undergo a second surgery, InshaAllah, at 5:30pm today.
“The first surgery was two days ago, and we were informed that the burns were actually fourth-degree. We pray that the second surgery will go smoothly.
“The doctor didn’t specify, but I was told that sulphuric acid is dangerous, so we pray for his speedy recovery.
“I managed to see him, he said hi, and we pray for his speedy recovery. Send my regards to his friends.
“I understand that the same procedure is being carried out because the effects are on his face, neck, arms, and other parts of the body, so the doctor can’t do it all at once, section by section. I understand that this is another section the doctor is focusing on.
“I am sure there will be more surgeries after this,” said Shahril.
It is understood that his entire body currently has to be wrapped to prevent further complications such as bacterial infections. – May 7, 2024
