KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested a man in his 20s suspected of being involved in the acid attack on Selangor FC winger Faisal Halim at a supermarket in Damansara yesterday.
Speaking to Scoop earlier, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed the arrest.
He said the suspect was arrested in Pandah Indah.
“We have obtained remand for the suspect for two days at the Petaling Jaya Court.
“So far, we have taken statements from three individuals, including the victim, Faisal,” he said.
Hussein said that several more witnesses would be called in today to complete investigations into the case.
Yesterday, Scoop reported that Faisal, commonly known as Mickey, was enjoying a family outing at a leading shopping mall, indulging in a game of go-kart, when the attack occurred at a supermarket in Kota Damansara.
This is the second incident involving a national football player. The first case saw Akhyar Rashid, a player from Terengganu FC, sustain head injuries during a robbery in Kuala Terengganu.
The Kedah-born player was promptly taken to the emergency unit of Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital for treatment.
During the incident around 8.30pm, the victim suffered injuries to his head, left leg, and left arm, in addition to a loss of almost RM5,000. – May 6, 2024
