KUALA LUMPUR – The Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, has condemned the recent attacks on two national football players, Faisal Halim and Akhyar Rashid.

Tunku Ismail, who is also the owner of Johor Darul Ta’zim Football Club (JDT), has also called on the police to swiftly investigate both incidents.

“I condemn the recent incidents involving footballers Faisal Halim and Akhyar Rashid, where their safety and well-being were harmed by irresponsible individuals.

“I hope the Royal Malaysian Police swiftly and thoroughly investigate the cases and take appropriate action,” he said on his Instagram page.

The country was shocked by an acid attack on Faisal, a Selangor football player, in an incident in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya, yesterday.

The attack left him with second-degree burns on his neck, shoulder, arm, and chest.

Less than a week before the attack, Akhyar, a player for Terengganu FC was robbed in Kuala Terengganu.

This ordeal resulted in injuries to his head, left leg, and left arm, as well as significant financial losses amounting to thousands of ringgit.

He was immediately rushed to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital’s emergency unit.

During the incident, Akhyar, 25, was attacked with an iron rod as he exited his car after returning from training, before the suspects allegedly snatched his wallet and cell phone and fled. – May 6, 2024
