KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) has been handed a three-point deduction for the 2024/2025 Super League season and fined RM50,000 for failing to fully settle the salary arrears for 2023.

First Instance Body (FIB) chairman Sheikh Mohd Nasir Sheikh Mohd Sharif said in a statement that the punishment was made after KDA FC was found to have failed to meet the conditions set for the full settlement of the salary arrears on March 30.

“The FIB takes note of the letter from KDA FC dated March 28 regarding settling 50% of the total salary arrears for 2023, as well as the letter of agreement for scheduling the payment of the remaining salary arrears that was signed by 75% of the players and officials involved dated March 29.

“However, it still does not meet the conditions that were set, which is the full settlement of the salary arrears for the year 2023,” he added.

He added that the punishment meted out to KDA FC was effective yesterday based on Article 2.4 (c) of the Malaysian Football League (MFL) Club Licensing Rules 2023 Edition.

He said that if KDA FC fails to fully settle the salary arrears or submit proof of financial documents to settle the payments by 5pm on April 20, the team’s national licence could be revoked, thus making them ineligible to compete in the 2024/2025 Super League season, which will kick off on May 10.

Meanwhile, the FIB also confirmed that Kuala Lumpur City FC has settled its salary arrears for 2023 before the March 30 deadline. – April 5, 2024
