‘Battle of the Reds’: organisers anticipate around 40,000 fans to turnout at Bukit Jalil

Pre-ticket sales began earlier today, while tickets for the April 27 event will be available Feb 5

KUALA LUMPUR – Organisers of the ‘Battle of the Reds’ charity match, which will see legends from Manchester United go against legends from Liverpool, expect a turnout of about 40,000 spectators at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium on April 27.

AllStar Sports project director Raf Yaakob said that since the announcement of the match, the response for tickets from football fans has been overwhelmingly positive.

“The demand for tickets has been exceptional, and we encourage fans to secure seats promptly as soon as tickets are on sale. We have been receiving inquiries on ticket sales since the announcement of the event, and we are truly delighted with the enthusiastic response,” he said.

Meanwhile, the organisers today announced the list of players who will be making the trip to Malaysia for the match.

The line-up for Manchester United is Louis Saha, Dwight Yorke, Jaap Stam, Lee Sharpe, Clayton Blackmore, Keith Gillespie, Ben Thornley, Eric Djemba Djemba, Paul Rachubka, Russell Beardsmore, Lee Martin, and Danny Webber, with Teddy Sheringham as captain.

Liverpool has decided to bring David James, Steve McManaman, Emile Heskey, Sami Hyypia, Glen Johnson, Patrik Berger, Vladimir Smicer, John Durnin, Phil Babb, and David Thompson, with John Arne Riise donning the captain’s armband.

However, it is understood that more players will be unveiled closer to the date of the match.

Ticket sales commence on February 5, via ticket2u.com. Secure your seats early to witness this epic encounter. 

Ticket prices are as follows: VIP seats at RM1,888, PS1 seats at RM268, PS2 seats at RM208, PS3 seats at RM128, and Manchester & Liverpool Reds seats at RM78. 

Pre-ticket sales are available for the first 5,000 Maybank or Tune Protect customers, starting from January 30 at 10am until February 2 at 11.59pm. 

During this period, a 10% discount is applicable to each ticket, excluding VIP tickets and each transaction is restricted to a maximum of 10 tickets per customer. – January 30, 2024
