An uphill battle for Aaron-Wooi Yik at the World Tour Finals

KUALA LUMPUR — It won’t be an easy path for national men’s doubles pair Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik as they are drawn together with the world number one Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang of China in Group A of the round-robin stage for the Badminton World Federation World Tour Finals.

Accompanying them there will be Liu Yuchen-Ou Xuanyi of China and Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi of Japan in the group.

At the same time, Group B is made of Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia, world champions Kang Min-hyuk and Seo Seung-jae of South Korea, Kim Astrup-Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri-Bagas Maulana of Indonesia.

Meanwhile, in the mixed doubles category, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei are drawn into Group A alongside world number two pair of Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino of Japan, Thai pair Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai and Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping of China.

However, in Group B, world number one pair Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong of China heads the group with world champions Seung-jae-Chae Yu-jung and Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun of South Korea.

Rounding up the group will be Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet of Hong Kong.

The action will start on Wednesday in Hangzhou, China. — December 11, 2023
