KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) today announced that the local energy drink, Long Qi, will be the official beverage partner for the upcoming Men’s FIH Hockey Junior World Cup.
MHC president Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal said that the partnership is valued at RM300,000 in cash and in-kind, which will be used to provide more for the Malaysian players.
“Long Qi, which falls under the wings of Orang Kampung Group, has been a great help to our confederation, and we are delighted with the support shown by private companies in recognising the importance and progress of the sport.
“The Long Qi energy drinks contain a lot of nutrients such as Vitamin C, which is beneficial for the blood circulation of our athletes. Our junior players can benefit a lot from this.

“In our efforts to support local brands, we have decided not to allow the sale of any other isotonic drinks in the stadium vicinity aside from Long Qi.
“We hope that our partnership can endure, and we aspire to achieve success together.
“Through this partnership, I hope more private companies will also express interest in investing in hockey,” said Subahan during a press conference at the national hockey stadium today.
Subahan also said that MHC is in talks with Peugeot Malaysia to bring them on board as the official transportation partner for the dignitaries during the tournament.
“We are currently in discussions with Peugeot, and we are looking at a sponsorship of 8-10 cars.
“We can’t disclose the amount of the deal now, but we hope to seal the deal in the next couple of days,” Subahan added.
Meanwhile, Mohd Faizal Mohd Hassan, the sales and marketing manager at Orang Kampung Group believes that the partnership between his company and MHC will draw the attention of more parties to support local sports.
“As entrepreneurs who run local businesses, we are committed to sponsor local sports, and as many are aware, hockey is a high-class sport.

“We hope this sponsorship can help maintain the high level that hockey currently enjoys.
“We are really thankful to MHC for this opportunity, and we hope to continue these initiatives for the years to come,” Subahan added.
