KUALA LUMPUR – Qabil Irfan Azlan’s dominating performance to become the world champion at the FIM MiniGP World Series finals in Valencia, Spain is something to be proud of, said ZK Racing team boss Muhammad Zulfahmi Khairuddin.

Yesterday, 11-year-old Qabil showed he was a class above the rest by winning all three races in the 160cc category to become the first world champion in motorcycle racing from Malaysia.

“This is the first time Malaysia has become the world champion in motorcycle racing, and it is an amazing achievement.

“I’m thrilled to be with Qabil this whole week and be a part of his success.

“He is a talented racer and has a good supportive system behind him. He has the support of his family and the people from his kampung in Terengganu,” said Zulfahmi in a video message.

The former Moto3 rider added that he has plans to help Qabil achieve his ultimate dream of getting into MotoGP in the future.

“As an ex-racer, Qabil’s potential is excellent, and I hope I will be given a chance to be by his side to help him achieve his dream of becoming a MotoGP rider.

“Of course, I have plans for Qabil next year, and I have to make it happen. I’m grateful we have a world champion, and I hope this is not the last one from Malaysia,” he said.

“But I’m grateful to be able to win the world championship. I want to thank my parents, ZK Racing, the Youth and Sports Ministry, the Motorsports Association of Malaysia, and the Petronas Sepang International Circuit who supported me on this journey,” said Qabil in a video message. – November 24, 2023
