IPOH – Perak FC will not take Kelantan FC’s challenge in Super League action at Stadium Perak here tomorrow lightly, despite the fact that their opponents are currently not in the best of form.

Bos Gaurus coach Yusri Che Lah is confident that Kelantan (the Red Warriors), who are currently at the bottom of the Super League table, will play their hearts out to win and improve their position.

“I do not consider Kelantan a struggling team, and all of their players selected to play (tomorrow) will be formidable opponents to my team,” he said.

“They (players) will surely come onto the field with individual motivation, and if there are among the (Kelantan) players who continue to perform at their best (level), then for sure some of them will be poached by other teams for the next season.”

Meanwhile, Perak are in 11th place in the league with 19 points after 22 games, while the Red Warriors are in 14th place with eight points after 21 games.

Yusri said Perak will most likely be unable to field Filipino import defender Jesper Nyholm, former national winger Wan Zack Haikal Wan Noor, and midfielder Muhamad Firdaus Saiyadi as they are injured.

“It is almost certain that both Jesper and Firdaus will not be fielded, while it is uncertain if Wan Zack will be able to play. For now, the medical team is monitoring the situation with regard to Wan Zack’s injury,” he said.

Yusri, a former national football player, also hopes the team’s supporters will flock to the stadium tomorrow to help give a morale boost to his charges, just as they did when Perak faced Johor Darul Ta’zim in the Malaysia Cup semi-finals on October 19.

“The presence of (our) supporters will definitely raise the players’ morale and ensure winning the match becomes a reality,” he added. – October 27, 2023
