KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Malaysian Football League (MFL), and the National Athlete Welfare Foundation (Yakeb) have extended a financial contribution to the wife of the late B. Satiananthan, as an appreciation for his services and sacrifices in the national football arena.

FAM deputy president, Datuk S. Sivasundaram, said that the joint contribution initiative by MFL and Yakeb is expected to alleviate the burden on the family of the late Satiananthan, who left an indelible mark on the Malaysian football scene.

“I hope that with the contribution from FAM, MFL, and Yakeb, to some extent, I can ease the burden on the late Satiananthan’s family,” said Sivasundaram in a statement today.

Satiananthan’s wife, Krishna Priya, expressed her gratitude to the organisations for the assistance they volunteered to provide.

“Thank you so much to FAM for never ceasing to help him (B. Satiananthan) when he was still with us.

“Thank you also to MFL and Yakeb for their concern and support for our family,” said Priya.

Former Harimau Malaya coach Sathianathan, who had been battling cancer for nearly a year, passed away on July 18.

His illustrious career included serving as the Malaysian Football Coaches Association president.

One of his most significant achievements was successfully leading the Harimau Muda squad (U-23) to victory in the 2007 Merdeka Tournament.

He also held the head coach position for Harimau Malaya until early 2009.

His coaching career extended to various local clubs, including Kelantan, the Armed Forces, Felda United, Selangor, and Sarawak United, where his influence left an enduring legacy in Malaysian football. – October 19, 2023
