KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah FC did not provide a definitive response to the rumours surrounding the possibility of selling off 49.06% of the club’s assets.
It is believed that the club is close to securing new sponsors to manage its finances due to ongoing allegations that it is struggling to pay player salaries.
Speaking to Scoop, the club’s honorary treasurer, Ruzaini Radzi, acknowledged the viral allegations and mentioned that the management is working on a counterstatement to address the issue.
“I am aware of the viral statement circulating on social media. To be honest, I was not briefed about this matter by the club’s upper management and the CEO.
“At the moment, I kindly request everyone to stop spreading any fake news or posts without proper verification. The club will issue an official statement in the days to come,” said Ruzaini.
Meanwhile, when asked about the salary issues being faced by the players and officials at the club, Kedah FC’s team coordinator, Joe Rozi, denied it by saying that the club has so far not faced any issues.
“As far as I’m concerned, everything has been positive at the club and we have not been facing such a crisis.
“I have been getting my salaries on time and I have never received any complaints from the players that they have not been receiving their salaries.
“I can’t comment much on the potential takeover of the club by a different entity, and it’s up to the management of the club to decide its direction,” said Rozi.

It is understood that Kedah FC is trying to establish a partnership with a local software company, Kumpulan DSAT Sdn Bhd.
Based on a post shared on social media, efforts to reach an understanding were made after a letter was sent to the software firm’s chief executive Datuk Seri Azizul Tandek.
An agreement was sealed with the entrepreneur and was also signed by Kedah FC chief executive Khamal Idris Ali, with the knowledge of the club’s owner, Tan Sri Mohd Daud Bakar.
“As the representative of the members of the board of directors and the shareholders of Kedah FC, I would like to offer the Yang Berbahagia Datuk Seri the sale of 49.06% of the club’s shares at an offer price of RM15 million.
“If YB Datuk Seri agrees to this offer, please express your agreement in writing to Darulaman Football Club Sdn Bhd before September 30, 2023,” the letter read.
Kedah currently rank third in the Super League with 47 points after 22 games and are vying for AFC Cup qualification.
They are three-time Super League winners – in 1993, 2006 and 2007 – and have lifted the Malaysia FA Cup five times (1990, 1993, 2007, 2008 and 2016). – October 17, 2023
