Terengganu FC keeper Suhaimi called up to train for national team

He is one of three players from the Under-23 squad that played in the Asia Cup U-23 qualifier last month

KUALA LUMPUR – Terengganu FC goalkeeper Mohd Suhaimi Husin became the latest addition to Harimau Malaya’s centralised training camp to prepare for next month’s Merdeka Tournament.

In a statement today, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) said national head coach Kim Pan-gon, who is preparing the squad for the Merdeka Tournament has called up three players from the Under-23 squad that played in the Asia Cup U-23 Qualifier in Chonburi, Thailand last month.

The three are Muhammad Azam Azmi Murad, Muhammad Mukhairi Ajmal Mahadi and Nooa Hamzah Laine.

The statement added that Pan-gon had retained 21 of the 25 players who had played for the country in the Tier 1 international friendlies against Syria and China in Chengdu, from September 6-9.

FAM said training would kick off on Friday (October 6) at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium.

Malaysia are set to face India in their first tournament match on October 13, Palestine and Pakistan coming later. – October 2, 2023
