GENTING HIGHLANDS – National team rider Muhammad Shaiful Adlan Mohd Shukri became the best Malaysian finisher at Stage 5 of the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) today after crossing the line in 33rd place.

After failing to secure the White Jersey for the Best Asian Rider classification at Stage 3 on Monday due to muscle cramps, Shaiful Adlan excelled in the ‘Queen Stage’ from Slim River to Genting Highlands today.

“I realised that I have to shoulder the responsibility at this stage because the past four days the routes have been mostly flat and we had to focus on sprinters like Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil, Muhammad Nur Aiman Rosli, and Zulhelmi Zainal.

“For today, Muhammad Zawawi Azman, Muhsin Al Redha Misba, and myself had to play our part. I’m satisfied with my efforts today,” said Shaiful Adlan after completing today’s 126.4km route from Slim River to Genting Highlands.

He said practicing the Genting Highlands climb before the Tour started contributed to today’s performance, but added that he wished there was more time to practice the route.

“We wanted to have two practice sessions before the LTdL, but the Genting Highlands management only allowed us to have one,” he said.

The ProSeries road cycling race will continue tomorrow from Karak to Melaka, covering a distance of 174.5km. – September 27, 2023
