KUALA LUMPUR – Concertgoers for the highly anticipated Malaysian leg of Ed Sheeran’s “+-=÷x Asia Tour” tomorrow are in for a treat with an exciting 360° experience at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium here.
360° experience
Para Rajagopal, founder of event organiser PR Worldwide Sdn Bhd, told Scoop the concert will be a breath of fresh air for the estimated 50,000 fans, as this type of performance is rarely done.
“What’s different (about the show) is that it is a 360° concert, so fans can enjoy each angle of the performance by Sheeran. It’s even my first time organising such concerts, too.
“It’s good to see (Sheeran) fanbase grow as the years go by. He started with a concert here of about 5,000 people, and now he is performing in front of 50,000-strong crowds.”
Though unable to confirm if fellow British singer Calum Scott would be the only guest artist tomorrow, Para suggested that there may be some surprises up Sheeran’s sleeve, which would depend on the singer.
No extension on LRT services
When asked about the crowd control after the concert, Para said organisers strive to facilitate concertgoers travelling to and from the venue.
“There is only so much we can do, but we are cooperating with authorities to ensure a smooth exit after the concert.
“Things went smoothly after Coldplay played. Crowd control should be okay. We (organisers) are getting better with each concert as well.”
Despite the concert tomorrow night, a Prasarana representative confirmed that the LRT service running through the Bukit Jalil station will keep to its regular operation hours and will not be extended.
Those driving to the stadium can opt to park at Technology Park Malaysia (Mranti Park).
Para also reminded fans to observe some self-discipline throughout the concert to ensure that everyone has a pleasant experience.
Prohibited items and acts
Items strictly barred from being brought into the venue include alcohol, drugs, weapons, cigarettes and e-cigarettes, flammable items, fireworks, as well as outside food and beverages.
Fans are also prohibited from bringing their pets, helmets, umbrellas, or bags larger than A4 size. Banners of similar size are also not allowed, especially those with political elements and LED effects.
Devices such as professional photography gadgets, drones, laptops, tablets, tripods, laser pens, and selfie sticks are also prohibited.
Unfortunately, fans would not be able to showcase their “healing moments” either, as folding chairs and ladders are prohibited as well.
Concertgoers are also discouraged from camping outside the stadium, including all-nighters, as the organisers warned it could endanger the artist and other members of the public.
Only fans on the tiered seating may bring in non-metal and non-glass bottles of less than one litre into the stadium, while water stations will be available at the venue’s perimeter.
Merchandise galore
Two booths are set to open for merchandise, located opposite the stadium’s Gate B at 1pm onwards and at Concourse Gate C at 5pm onwards.
Customers can pay through contactless payment with Visa, MasterCard, JCB, Union Pay, AliPay, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Samsung Pay, and DuitNow.
Any refunds and exchanges for damaged or defective items purchased on-site will only be valid before leaving the merchandise counter.
Ticketing procedures
As no physical tickets are issued for this concert, attendees must retrieve e-tickets from their respective GoLive accounts or registered emails. Printing, downloading, and taking screenshots of the ticket ahead of admission is recommended for smooth entry.
Tickets can only be scanned once, and any subsequent scans will invalidate them.
Those coming with tickets intended for another holder will have to present a copy of any identification that matches the name on the e-ticket and supporting documents explaining the ticket transfer. – February 23, 2024
