Boygenius sweeps Grammys’ rock categories

Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker steal spotlight at 66th Grammys pre-gala, clinching three awards

KUALA LUMPUR – Supergroup boygenius conquers the rock categories in the 66th Grammys pre-gala ceremony, while SZA bagged best progressive R&B album for “SOS”.

Boygenius – comprising Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker – took home best rock performance and best rock song for “Not Strong Enough”.

They also bagged the best alternative music album for “The Record”.

The trio were giddy with happiness as they ran onstage to accept the three trophies during the pre-ceremony.

“I feel kinda like a kid, because that was the last time that something like this felt possible,” said Dacus.

Baker chimed in with: “This band is my family, I love them.”

Meanwhile, pop darling Billie Eilish took home a songwriting trophy for “What Was I Made For?” from the Barbie movie soundtrack – which also won the best compilation soundtrack for visual media. 

Blockbuster “Oppenheimer” took home the best score soundtrack for visual media.

American rockers Paramore bagged best rock album and best alternative music performance for “This is Why”.

Folk Album – Joni Mitchell (“Joni Mitchell at Newport [Live]”)
Dance/Electronic Recording – Skrillex, Fred again.. & Flowdan (“Rumble”) – February 5, 2024
