Historical drama Oppenheimer leads all Oscar nominations with 13, including Best Picture

Poor Things follows with 11 nominations, Killers of the Flower Moon with 10, and Barbie with eight

KUALA LUMPUR – Biographical thriller Oppenheimer tops the list of Oscar nominations for 2024, with 13 including for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actors, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Supporting Actor. 

The three-hour epic on physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was dubbed “father of the atomic bomb”, will vie for best picture with 10 others films, including Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon, and Barbie.

Poor Things has the next highest number of nominations, at 11, Killers of the Flower Moon, 10, and Barbie, eight.

Besides Best Picture and Director, Oppenheimer is also in the running for Academy Awards for Best Actor (Cillian Murphy), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Robert Downey Jr) and Best Actress in a Supporting Role (Emily Blunt).

It is also has nominations for Best Writing for Adapted Screenplay, cinematography, costume design, makeup and hairstyling, original score, production design, film editing, and sound.

Other films competing for Best Picture of the Year are American Fiction, Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Maestro, Past Lives and The Zone of Interest.

The list of the 96th Academy Award nominees were just announced at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California, this morning in the United States, The Hollywood Reporter said.

The Oscars will be presented at Dolby Theatre in the evening on March 10.
