Photo of the Day: Work of a master craftsman

RATTAN furniture maker Benny Ng, 58, skilfully weaves strips of cane into a chair seat at his shop, Perabot Rotan Woon Cane, on Jalan Klang Lama, which has made and sold rattan furniture for 30 years.

Ng sells each piece of furniture from RM200 upwards, depending on their size and complexity.

Despite more modern tastes, rattan furniture is still favoured by many for its durability and natural appearance. – June 6, 2024
