KLANG – In a bid to enhance representation in Selangor, Pakatan Harapan’s young Sementa candidate Erni Afrishah Azizi says she hopes to uplift the voices of the youth in the constituency.
The 25-year-old, who is one of the coalition’s youngest candidates in Selangor, is set to contest against Perikatan Nasional’s Noor Najhan Mohamad Salleh in the upcoming state polls on August 12.
Promising fresh ideas, Erni said her campaign will focus on the aspirations of the youth in her constituency, among others.
“My mission is to amplify the voices of the youth in Sementa and to champion their welfare wholeheartedly,” she told Scoop.
“Our constituency is home to 12 diverse villages, and my commitment to their well-being knows no bounds, regardless of their age.”
Unveiling the issues that plague the youth in Sementa, Erni highlighted a pressing concern – the lack of attention.
“It is important that we lend our undivided attention to the youth and their challenges, bridging the gap between them and their representatives. Their concerns should never go unheard or unanswered,” she said.
Among the crucial matters demanding immediate attention is the absence of adequate infrastructure for community gatherings and recreational activities.
“Kampung Sementa, for instance, lacks a central hall and a field where residents can come together, socialise, and indulge in their hobbies. As a resident myself, I deeply empathise with this dire need for recreational spaces,” Erni said.
“To truly represent the aspirations of the people, we must be familiar with their struggles. By being a part of this community, I understand their concerns from within, and that’s why I believe it’s my responsibility to champion the voices of the Sementa people.” – July 29, 2023
