SUBANG – Local airline Batik Air will offer fixed airfares of RM319 to Sarawak and RM379 to Sabah during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive period, Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced earlier today.
He said the initiative aims to provide a fair, transparent, and affordable travel option during the peak holiday season.
“This effort reflects a genuine understanding of passengers’ needs and is a commendable step towards making festive travel more accessible to all,” he said at Batik Air’s Iftar celebration here today.
Also in attendance were Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim and Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (Caam) chief executive officer Datuk Captain Norazman Mahmud.
Loke also announced that Batik Air has increased flight frequencies, adding up to 140 extra services to key domestic destinations, including Kota Bharu, Alor Setar, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Sibu, Sandakan, and Tawau.
“These additional flights will provide greater flexibility and convenience, allowing more Malaysians to return home for the celebrations.
“With this expansion, Batik Air is introducing over 22,000 additional seats during the peak travel period, further enhancing accessibility and ensuring a smoother travel experience for all passengers,” he said.
Loke added that Batik Air’s growing network and commitment to passenger experience have strengthened its position in Malaysia’s aviation industry.
“The airline’s growth reflects its dedication to expanding travel options, and I look forward to seeing more initiatives that prioritise passengers’ needs.
“We encourage airlines to continue adopting fair and transparent pricing strategies to improve connectivity within Malaysia and beyond,” he said. — March 6, 2025
