No leak, just a list: MoE on SPM 2024 History paper scandal

Ministry clears up allegations of leaked exam paper after screenshot of chat goes viral

KUALA LUMPUR – The Education Ministry (MoE) has strongly denied claims circulating on social media alleging the leak of the SPM 2024 History examination paper. A detailed investigation into the matter concluded that the accusations were baseless and unfounded.

In today’s statement, MoE clarified that the viral screenshots purporting to reveal leaked questions were merely lists of topics extracted from the History textbook.

“These were speculations based on predictions and did not contain any actual questions from the History Paper 1 or Paper 2 of SPM 2024,” the ministry explained.

MoE further assured the public that the Examination Board’s robust security measures remain in place to safeguard the confidentiality of examination materials.

“The allegations do not meet the definition of a leak under the established procedures and security protocols for managing and handling examination papers,” the statement emphasised.

Students are urged to remain calm and focused as they continue their examinations, with MoE reiterating its commitment to ensuring fairness and maintaining the integrity of Malaysia’s public examination system.

The allegations emerged on social media platforms after a screenshot of a chat which showed a list of History paper topics went viral – allegedly leaked topics of the major exam – sparking widespread concern among students and parents.

This controversy follows a string of similar incidents in previous years, which MoE has also previously debunked. – January 9, 2025
