KUALA LUMPUR – Police have put out more missing teenager notices, this time for two girls whose families are appealing for public help to locate the youths after they disappeared from two different locations.

The brother of one of the girls, 14-year-old Nur Hidayatul Iman Abdullah, filed a missing persons report yesterday evening after no sighting of his sister since last Tuesday.

Nur Hidayatul, whose last known location was in front of the Aladdin Restaurant in Genting Highlands, Bentong, is described as having a medium brown complexion and a slim build, Bernama reported.

She was last seen wearing a black Adidas sweater, a black headscarf and black pants.

Bentong district police chief Zaiham Mohd Kahar was quoted as saying that members of the public with any information regarding the missing teenager are urged to come forward to the nearest police station.

Information can also be relayed by contacting the Bentong District Police Headquarters control centre at 09-2231999.

Meanwhile, police are also seeking information on the disappearance of 17-year-old Nurul Fateha Nabila Mohd Zailani, who was last seen on December 29, 2024.

Sepang district police chief Norhizam Bahaman said that a missing persons report was lodged two days later by the girl’s aunt.

The teenager, he said, has resided in Kg Sg Merab Luar in Kajang with her aunt since February last year after a stint at a moral rehabilitation centre in Sabak Bernam, Selangor.

Bernama also quoted Norhizam as saying that prior to her disappearance, Nurul Fateha had locked herself in her room following a family dispute. She was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and black sports trousers while carrying a mobile phone.

Efforts to locate the teenager are ongoing. Those with information on the matter can contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Muhamad Jefry Mustafa at 0148013500.

The public was left reeling earlier this week when police confirmed that a decomposed body discovered in Banting, Selangor, is that of a teenage girl reported missing in Kajang on December 19.

Yap Xin Yuan, 15, is believed to have been murdered and thrown into the river, with police investigating drug use and a possible dispute as motives behind her killing.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said yesterday that police firmly believe her death was linked to her 16-year-old boyfriend, with probes underway to determine whether he had acted alone or with an accomplice.

Previously, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said that while 3,847 children aged below 18 were reported missing between 2020 and September last year, 96% of them were successfully found.

He said that on average, there were 770 cases per year, or about two cases per day. The minister also noted that children aged 13 to 15 made up 54% of missing cases, while those aged 16 to 18 accounted for 37%. – January 4, 2025
