KUALA LUMPUR – Vietjet has officially launched direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi, marking a milestone in enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and Vietnam.
The inaugural flight, VJ905, departed Hanoi on November 28, 2024, and arrived at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) just before noon.
Later that day, Flight VJ906 brought travellers from Malaysia to Hanoi, where they were ready to explore the Vietnamese capital, the carrier said in a statement recently.
This new route increases the airline’s total weekly flights between Vietnam and Malaysia to 14, with daily round-trip services now operating between Kuala Lumpur and Hanoi.
Vietjet first entered the Malaysian market with flights to Ho Chi Minh City, and its expansion to Hanoi highlights the airline’s commitment to offering affordable and quality service across the region.
The move comes as tourism between Malaysia and Vietnam continues to grow, with the launch coinciding with the year-end school holidays and the peak travel season.
The new route is also expected to support increased travel between the two countries in the lead-up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026.
Hanoi, known for its rich history and vibrant culture, is home to UNESCO-listed landmarks such as the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the Temple of Literature. The city’s street food scene and proximity to natural attractions make it a popular destination for international travellers.
The flight schedule for the Kuala Lumpur-Hanoi route is as follows:
Kuala Lumpur to Hanoi: Flight VJ906, departing at 12.40 pm and arriving at 3.05pm (local time), daily.
Hanoi to Kuala Lumpur: Flight VJ905, departing at 7.20 am and arriving at 11.40am (local time), daily.
To celebrate the new route, Vietjet has launched its “Green Friday” promotion, offering one-way tickets starting from RM166, including taxes and fees. The promotion runs every Friday through to December 31, 2024, with travel dates extending into 2025.
Tickets can be booked via the airline’s website or mobile app.
