RM10,000 tax relief for medical expenses

Government boosts education, medical insurance relief to RM4,000; overseas income exempt from tax until 2036

KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians will be enjoying an income tax relief amounting to RM10,000 for medical expenses, including co-payments made to medical insurance and takaful products.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim (Tambun-PH), in tabling Budget 2025, said Putrajaya will increase tax relief for education and medical insurance to RM4,000.

He also told Dewan Rakyat that income derived from overseas and already taxed in the source country is exempted from taxation in Malaysia between December 31, 2026 to December 31, 2036. – October 18, 2024
