KUALA LUMPUR – CIMB Bank Bhd has forged a partnership with the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (MPYO) and MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd as part of its newly launched brand campaign “Kita Bagi Jadi.”
Under this one-year agreement with MPYO, CIMB and MyCreative Ventures will become key partners to the orchestra. The bank’s comprehensive training centre, Akademi Nazir Razak in Bangi, will host a 30-day music camp for 40 young musicians.
The partnership also includes opportunities for MPYO to perform at several prestigious events: CIMB’s Artober “Art & Soul” exhibition in October, the bank’s 100th anniversary concert in November, and MyCreative Ventures’ Rock n’ Riuh festival in December.
A talent development programme which began in 2006, the MPYO consists of an all-Malaysian ensemble of musical prodigies ranging from the age of 10 to young adults in their 20s.
A social movement aimed at spreading positivity and nurturing resilience among Malaysians, Kita Bagi Jadi embodies CIMB Bank’s long history of advocating for inclusion among communities while supporting young talents and future leaders in music, sports and arts.
CIMB chief executive officer Gurdip Singh Sidhu said the bank remains committed to playing its role as a responsible corporate citizen as part of its dedication to ensure that its actions have a real and meaningful impact on people’s daily lives.
“You could say this Kita Bagi Jadi spirit has been part of CIMB’s DNA for the last 100 years. As a bank, we are in a unique position to make things happen.
“Every day, we mobilise funds through prudent actions and decisions which help support businesses, families and individuals in Malaysia to realise their dreams, ambitions and full potential,” Gurdip said at a launch event today.
He added that in addition to the financing support CIMB provides to the B40 community as well as micro, small and medium enterprises, education remains a key pillar for the bank, as evidenced by its flagship CIMB Asean scholarship programme which has supported 120 scholars since 2016.
Meanwhile, MyCreative Ventures group chief executive officer Zainariah Johari said that emotional depth, nuances and the human connection that music brings to all Malaysians are at the core of the partnership.
“We believe our contributions through the Communications Ministry’s Matching Fund Scheme, supported by the Finance Ministry, will enhance MYPO’s profile and visibility (while) helping ignite the passion of our young musicians for new and enriching experiences,” she said.
Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil, who also attended the event today, expressed his pride at the capacity-building initiative undertaken by CIMB and MyCreative Ventures, which is an agency overseen by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
“MyCreative Ventures was formed to identify and carry out loans or strategic investments to ensure that the creative industry can develop positively and contribute to our nation’s creative economy,” the minister said.
“Specifically, I welcome MyCreative Ventures’ matching grant programme where 50% (of the grant) will be provided by the government through MyCreative Ventures while another 50% will be supplied by corporate entities.
“This is a positive model and framework to allow the creative industry and artists to secure financial aid which can support their creative works,” Fahmi added.
Also present at the event today was national track cyclist Datuk Azizulhasni Awang, professional golfer Ervin Chang, Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra chairman Datin Anita Azrina and CIMB Group chief brand and marketing officer Toni Darusman.
As part of its ongoing commitment to the Kita Bagi Jadi movement, CIMB has curated exclusive benefits for CIMB Visa Infinite and Visa Signature credit cardholders to fulfil their dreams of travelling more and elevate their travel experience.
