KUALA LUMPUR – The Securities Commission (SC) is on the hunt for an individual known as Syarmi Shamsuddin for allegedly committing several offences relating to unit trust investments.
In a post on X today, the commission said it is requesting public assistance to locate Syarmi, whom SC said is a former unit trust and private retirement scheme consultant.
Syarmi is suspected of misconduct involving unit trust investments and was last seen in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
“The SC is seeking Syarmi in connection with breaches of the Capital Markets and Services Act 2007, Guidelines on Conduct for Capital Market Intermediaries as well as the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia’s 2013 and 2020 Code of Ethics.”

Meanwhile, checks online found that Syarmi is the founder and chief executive officer of financial planning agency The One Asia Advisors.
According to its website, the company offers “independent holistic advice on financial planning services” across multiple sectors, including banking institutions, asset management companies, fund management firms, corporate trustees and offshore financial institutions.
The company also claims to have “more than 10 years” of experience in Malaysia. – August 13, 2024
