KUALA LUMPUR – Diesel is cheaper in Peninsular Malaysia by 5 sen per litre from tomorrow until August 14, at RM3.30 per litre, the Finance Ministry said.

The retail price drop is due to the recent decline in global crude oil prices, and is in line with the current moderating trend in global crude oil market prices, the ministry said in a statement.

“The government agrees to reduce the retail price of diesel in Peninsular Malaysia by 5 sen per litre to RM3.30 per litre, from August 8 till August 14.

“The government will continue to monitor market developments and adjust the diesel fuel’s retail price based on global oil market fluctuations, while supporting price stability.”

The retail price of other fuels remains unchanged – RON97 at RM3.47 per litre and RON95 at RM2.05 per litre.

Diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan also remains unchanged at RM2.15 per litre.

The retail price of diesel in the peninsula was raised to RM3.35 per litre on June 10, as part of the government’s restructuring of subsidies to ensure they reached targeted groups.

However, the higher price was not applied to Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan, where people commonly utilise diesel vehicles for daily use. – August 7, 2024
