KUALA LUMPUR – A male teacher was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexually harassing several male students at a primary school in Hulu Selangor over the past week.

It is understood that all the 12-year-old victims were molested by the teacher during their participation in a football tournament, Buletin TV3 reported.

“However, the actions of the male teacher in his 30s were revealed after he was arrested by the police in Bukit Beruntung at 1.30am.

Hulu Selangor deputy police chief Mohd Asri Mohd Yunus said the police had received four reports regarding the incident between 2.03am and 10am the day before.

He added that the suspect is believed to have committed the acts in several different locations, including in the room of a homestay in Ulu Yam.

“The male teacher was detained by a police team from the criminal investigation department of the Hulu Selangor police headquarters.

“A urine test found no evidence of drugs, and he had no criminal record,” he added when contacted.

Following this, Asri said that four investigation papers were opened against the suspect, who will be investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.

The man was remanded for six days starting today, until July 31, to assist with the investigation, he added. – July 27, 2024
