Wan Saiful’s wife dies after years-long battle with cancer

Late Datin Alena Omar, wife of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan, passed away this afternoon at National Cancer Institute Putrajaya

KUALA LUMPUR – The wife of Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan has died today following years-long battle with colon cancer. 

In a statement, the late Datin Alena Omar died at 3.07pm at the National Cancer Institute in Putrajaya.

Funeral prayers are being carried out at Masjid Kariah Sg Sekamat in Kajang, Selangor at 5.15pm today. 

The burial will be held at the Taman Sekamat Muslim cemetery in Jalan Sg Sekamat.

In June, Wan Saiful disclosed in a Facebook video that Alena was battling stage four colon cancer and was undergoing treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

He added that his wife was in a critical condition at that time as the cancer had metastasized.

He said she had been undergoing chemotherapy since 2020.

She left behind their five children aged 26, 24, 22, 12 and 10. – July 22, 2024
