KUALA LUMPUR – The family of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, the former Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (Upsi) student who is believed to have been murdered, has been informed that her remains will be released today.

This was confirmed by Nur Farah Kartini’s brother, Mohammad Farizza Azmi, 28, when contacted by Scoop earlier.

“Now the body is being bathed at Sg Buloh Hospital, and the family is still waiting to claim it,” he said.

In a WhatsApp status this morning, Syeril Norsyuhada Suhaimi, 29, sister-in-law of Nur Farah Kartini, said that the family could claim the victim’s remains after the completion of DNA testing.

She said the DNA results have confirmed the body as Nur Farah Kartini.

“We (the family) are currently on the way to the Sg Buloh Forensic Unit to claim her remains. Her body will be taken to Pekan, Pahang, for burial after that.

“Please recite Al-Fatihah for her,” Syeril Norsyuhada requested.

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that the remains of 25-year-old Nur Farah Kartini will be handed over to the family today.

He said that the DNA-matching process carried out matched Nur Farah Kartini.

“The matched DNA results are positive. The body found in the palm oil plantation area in Kampung Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, is Nur Farah Kartini.

“I confirm that the body will be handed over today to the family,” he said in a statement today.

It was reported that the body of Nur Farah Kartini, who had been missing since July 10 after delivering a rental car to a customer, was discovered in an oil palm plantation area in Kg Sri Kledang, Hulu Selangor, on July 15.

Subsequently, a 26-year-old man, a policeman stationed in Perak, was arrested and remanded for seven days until July 22 to assist in the investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Yesterday, police recovered a mobile phone they believe belonged to the victim in a ditch at the oil palm plantation where her body was found.

It was found by the scuba unit and shown to the policeman suspected of killing Nur Farah Kartini, who was brought to the plantation. – July 18, 2024
