Police confirm suspect in Nur Farah Kartini murder was her boyfriend

26-year-old civil servant to be in custody for seven days after remand granted

KUALA LUMPUR – The 26-year-old civil servant implicated in the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah, 25, is her boyfriend, said police.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the investigations into the man led the authorities to finding her remains.

He also told reporters that police were trying to establish the motive behind Nur Farah’s murder.

The 26-year-old Malaysian man will be placed in police custody for seven days until July 22.

The remand order was granted by sessions court judge Nurul Mardhiah Mohammed Redza, who sat in as a magistrate in the Kuala Kubu Bharu court complex at 8.48am today.

The victim’s family members have been waiting at Sg Buloh Hospital where the post-mortem examination will be carried out.

However, Nur Farah’s friends and family have denied that the suspect is her boyfriend as she was not involved in any romantic relationships. – July 16, 2024
